I have a wireless network that runs fine using a Netgear DGN2000 (WPA-PSK and on on channel 11) and I've recently purchased a WGX102 and WGE102 range extender combo. I have this set up to run as a wireless access point so I can hopefully use the wireless all over my house. This is running on channel 1.

Now if I use the wireless in the end of the house covered by the router's wireless network all works fine. If I then move to the other end of the house covered by the WGX102 the wireless is still visible and I able to ping the wireless access point but initially not the router. At this stage I still have a valid 192.168.0.* IP. After about 150-200 dead pings suddenly the connection "comes alive" and I can ping the router and all is well.

Moving the other way around from the access point end-of-house to the router end works fine straight away.

This makes moving around the house very annoying and is the same on four laptops and my iPhone and my old BlackBerry was the same.

I've tried all combinations of channels (same and different!) security settings etc but ALWAYS the same.

Does anyone have any ideas as this is driving me mad!

PS I've set the router to run b+g only as this is all the range extenders and laptops support.
