Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

This morning we were up and about at 8.30 ready for a nice breakfast and a day at Dem San Water Park. We went there on our last trip and loved it so we'd thought the kids would love another day there. After a nice breakfast we bought some new shoes for Jojo (his old ones had carked it already) and organised a taxi for the Water Park. On the way we were caught in some of the heaviest traffic I've ever seen in Vietnam. Strange we thought. Then we got to the Water Park. Absolute MADNESS! There were people everywhere. Schoolchildren mostly. It turns out that the day that we decided to hit the Park was a special holiday in Vietnam. Terrific. After changing in some very cramped circumstances we found a spot next to the completely filled kids' pool and Kythera took the kids for a swim. We then swapped over and I took them before settling down just next to Kythera in the water and letting the kids have fun. They were mobbed at one stage by a massive group of Vietnamese schoolchildren. Ophelia hated it. Jojo was pretty good though. We had a nice time in the kids pool but decided not to wait for rides and such because it was just madness the queues would've been horrendous.... so we headed home and the kids had an early nap. We must've had a massive nap or something because right now I cannot think of what we did for lunch that day. I remember falling asleep in the hotel room and suddenly it was 5 or 6pm. I think we may've missed lunch. Or something. Maybe we had a big one? I don't remember. Either way we headed out after our afternoon snooze to Ben Thanh Market to check out the night market. I bought a new Vietnam soccer shirt and Lacoste polo and some undies. We didn't buy anything else except for fruit for tomorrow's Mekong experience. We walked back through the park and came upon a few pagodas that had people dancing in them. We spoke with a man who knew very good English there about them and he said that every night groups come together and dance for no reason at all. There is a pagoda for slow dancing one for exercise dancing and one for some other sort. It was fun to watch and the kids danced around a little bit. Dinner was next on our mind. We went to Milwaukee's and ordered some food as well as a Saigon beer each our first of the local brew. Nice. Was an enjoyable meal and we headed back to our hotel room finished up packing for our checkout tomorrow (6am!). We have a Mekong trip so may be out of range for a couple of days. Don't miss us too much!
